Derek started bartending 8 years ago in Richmond and is now the Bar Manager at Bar Solita, located in the Arts District. What people expect from someone standing behind a bar has changed quite a lot since his first day and it is the constant room for growth that has kept Derek passionate throughout the years. Summing up his style of bartending, Derek prefers to keep things simple, letting the ingredients shine through. Less is more - unless it's a garnish.

Derek is donating all of his tips from the Guest Bartender Takeover to Comfort Zone Camp, a bereavement camp for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. Virago Spirits will 100% match his contribution.
