MODERN GIN WITH OOLONG TEA

First in Virago’s Experimental Series, Modern Gin with Oolong Tea is carefully distilled from a unique blend of botanicals, including juniper, coriander, Szechuan peppercorn, lemongrass and Oolong tea.


Tasting Notes

Lively, layered aromas of cracked peppercorn, freshly-cut grass and cinnamon offer a beguiling introduction to this captivating gin. Presenting a counterpoint to more citrus-forward gins, the palate is suffused with piquant notes of Szechuan pepper balanced against the fragrant herbaceousness of Oolong tea, lemon and grapefruit zest and sweet anise before fading into a long, savory finish.

Featured Recipes

    • 1.5 oz Virago Modern Gin

    • 3 oz Grapefruit Juice

    • 0.25 oz Simple Syrup

    • 2 Dashes Rhubarb Bitters

    Shake with ice. Double strain in a lime & salt-rimmed coupe glass.

    • 1.5 oz Virago Modern Gin

    • 0.75 oz Lemon Juice

    • 0.75 oz Simple Syrup

    • 3 Dashes Grapefruit Bitters

    • 3-4 Fresh Thyme Sprigs

    Muddle thyme with the gin. Add all other ingredients and shake with ice. Double strain into a coupe glass with a salt rim. Garnish with thyme sprig.

    • 1.5 oz Virago Modern Gin

    • 1 oz Lime Juice

    • 1 oz Simple Syrup

    • Muddled Basil

    Shake with ice. Strain into an ice-filled Old Fashioned Glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a basil leaf.

    • 1.5 oz Virago Modern Gin

    • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup

    • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

    Build over ice in a tall glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
